Job Description
The Daughters of Charity Tigray is seeking an experienced Senior Program Coordinator to lead our Emergency Response and School Feeding programs.
Position Overview:
This is a contract position (12 months, renewable) based at our head office in Mekelle. The coordinator will be responsible for overall program implementation, donor relations, and team management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day implementation of Emergency Response and School Feeding programs
- Develop detailed work plans, budgets, and implementation strategies
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements and organizational policies
- Prepare high-quality narrative and financial reports for donors
- Coordinate with government partners, UN agencies, and other stakeholders
- Monitor program activities and conduct regular field visits
- Supervise and mentor program staff (8-10 staff members)
- Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Represent the organization in coordination meetings and forums
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Health, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in humanitarian/development programs
- At least 3 years in a senior coordination or management role
- Proven experience with UN agencies (WFP, UNICEF) and international donors
- Strong knowledge of humanitarian principles and standards (Sphere, CHS)
Required Skills:
- Excellent program management and coordination skills
- Strong analytical and report writing abilities
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel for budget tracking
- Excellent English writing and communication skills
- Team leadership and staff development capabilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Desirable:
- Experience working in Tigray region
- Knowledge of local context and languages (Tigrinya)
- Experience with WFP school feeding programs
