Mizan Tadesse and her family lived in a small hut in Geralta Woreda. Severe hunger forced Mizan and her siblings to drop out of school to search for food.

When the Mary's Meals school feeding program launched at her local school, it brought immediate relief. The promise of a daily hot meal brought Mizan and her siblings back to class.

"The daily hot meals became a turning point," Mizan explains. "We returned to the classroom with dignity, capable of learning again."
