Healing and Empowerment Through Safe Spaces

The Daughters of Charity's Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS) program has reached a critical milestone, providing comprehensive support to over 21,000 survivors of gender-based violence across 8 strategically located safe space sites.

Our Holistic Approach:

Each WGSS center offers a safe haven where women and girls can access:

  • Psychosocial Support: Professional counseling and trauma-informed care
  • Case Management: Personalized support plans and referral services
  • Economic Empowerment: Skills training and livelihood opportunities
  • Legal Assistance: Access to justice and rights awareness
  • Community Support: Peer groups and social reconnection

Impact at Scale:

  • 21,000+ survivors received comprehensive support
  • 8 WGSS centers operating across conflict-affected areas
  • Professional counselors providing trauma-informed care
  • Economic programs helping women rebuild their livelihoods

Beyond immediate crisis response, our program focuses on long-term empowerment. Women participate in income-generating activities, skills training, and savings groups, enabling them to rebuild their lives with dignity and independence.

"The safe space gave me back my voice and my strength. Now I'm not just surviving—I'm helping other women find their way forward."
